“Glasgow needs to use it's natural assets and it's clout better. A good start would be some kind of city-wide apprentice scheme whch would not only beat the UK average as It does now but go one better and get every kid who wants one a placement with any major corp in the city that will have them. Also why should the rest of the Greater Glasgow areas get a free ticket via Glasgow's poor paying for amentities they cant afford to use. Pressure the Executive into widening the council tax area for Glasgow and or renegotiating the city boundaries. I think Glasgows transport problems are on the way to being resolved but it's still one of the most expensive places in the world to do business, why not drop the maintenance costs for business premises in the city. It's another tax on free enterprise surely the money made from new jobs would be recompense for the city. The city is a dear Green place but it saddens me to see the state of Greek Thompsons work, who after all influenced architects the world over just as Mackintosh and Carnegie did. We need to rely less on Mackintosh and more on three of these fantastic city heroes whilst encouraging new Scottish architects by giving them a chance to show their worth in the city to stop future greats leaving as they did before.”
