Who Came?
Glasgow Council for the Voluntary Sector is the main development agency and membership organisation supporting voluntary organisations and community groups in Glasgow. It has over 500 member organisations and 50 staff that work to support, develop and co-ordinate voluntary sector organisations in Glasgow. Around 125 people from this constituency attended the AGM to encourage thinking and develop stories about the future of Glasgow from the perspective of the voluntary sector. The session was also attended by writers from The University of Glasgow's creative writing course
What Happened?
A similar method to that used at previous workshops was used. There was a brief discussion about attitudes to the future followed by a story creation session. This was conducted with five groups of 25 participants. Prior to the session GCVS ran vox-pop video sessions with participants on the future of the Glasgow. There was also a brief presentation on Glasgow 2020 and some trends that may play a role in shaping the face of the city in 2020. You can download a copy of this presentation here.
A writer joined each groups, and will now work with the materials produced, to create a series of stories based on the characters developed.
